Athabascan Snowshoes traditionally a primary source of travel in the interior during winter. This was especially true when encountering deep snow when a hunter tracks a moose that is itself in soft deep snow up to its belly. The snowshoe evenly spreads out the weight of the hunter/traveler keeping them buoyant above the deep snow. These snowshoes were made by Moses Henzie, Koyukon Athabascan. #ANHC #culturaltourism | Alaska Native Heritage Center
